Today Andrew has been Awarded South West Wedding Photographer of the Year for the Master Photographers Association (MPA)! WOO HOO!!!
in Fact he came home with three separate trophies one for Contemporary Wedding photographer of the year, one for
Classical Wedding photographer of the year and also Reportage Wedding photographer of the year! This is a fantastic news as most of the time each style of wedding photography is awarded to a photographer specialising in that particular style.

I entered a few print competitions last week in Exeter for the regional MPA ( Master Photographer Association) This was the first print competition I had ever entered. I'm very pleased to say I won all three wedding categories ( contemporary wedding) with the large image you see below ( back page ad for Wed Magazine) also Classical wedding photography with an image that featured on the cover for West country weddings earlier this year. Finally for weddings a selection from Claire & Sean's Wedding won the reportage spot ( Ten Images from one wedding). I was also very pleased to get 2nd & 3rd in the Fashion along with 2nd in the Engaged Couple section.
I came home with nine certificates in all ;-) Below winning images!

A new LOVE in our lives

We are now three, Woody was born on the 17th of Feb, 8lb 0.5oz.
Below you can see a selection of his first baby portraits. ( I say first but in truth I was there at the birth with my camera)

Absolutely LOVE-d Tori's & Andrew's wedding day. The couple had their romantic ceremony under the gazebo at Boringdon Hall Hotel in Plympton . It was a fantastic idea as they were lucky enough to have a gorgeous ,warm Indian Summer day.
The reception drinks and snacks were served for the guests on the Barbican at Bacaro bar only a short walk form the main reception place the Plymouth's Aquarium.
Andrew & I were in heaven. 3 completely different locations for us to shoot, fantastic light and a gorgeous couple in LOVE enjoying every moment of their day.

We almost feel like guests on some of the weddings we photograph, and Mike & Laura’s wedding down in Cornwall was no exception.
Mike had been either best man or Usher for previous couples we had the pleasure of photographing and it was great to catch up with them all.
Agnieszka and I both stayed the night before in Newquay to avoid any possible traffic issues from Plymouth.
The Ceremony took place at Penponds Church, a beautiful, almost secret location accessed via very narrow lanes that seem to go on for miles. With the threat of a tractor around every bend we proceeded carefully.
Tregenna Castle hotel overlooks the famous fishing town of St Ives. Renowned for beautiful lighting many artist’s over the course of history have flocked to capture the glorious coastline of St Ives Bay and we were no exception.
Mike and Laura had chosen the best of everything for their wedding day so Tregenna castle had to be the perfect venue.
The day after the wedding I spotted a comment on facebook from one of the guests “If Carlsberg did weddings... congratulations Mike & Laura! “Asha Beswetherick “
I think that quote said it all :))

One the nicest parts of our job is to be recommended by a Venue, at Kitley House in Yealmpton, Agnieszka & I are recommended photographers.
As our regular readers will already know we shoot many weddings at Kitley House and through our many visits we have become very good friends of the Staff and Management.
The Venue is beautiful and the grounds are extensive with many photographic opportunities. At every wedding the staff are all on hand to ensure a smooth, well planned day is had by all.
So when Neil, a Friend from my School days got in touch with his plans to marry Ann at Brixton Church with the wedding reception at Kitley House I had a really good feeling. Neil and Ann both wanted a friendly relaxed day to enjoy with friends and Family.
As it turns out both Neil and Ann got very involved in making their wedding an ultra personal one.
Neil designed a logo and all the invites, thank you cards, along with a table plan and name cards while Ann designed and made not one but two massively detailed wedding cakes! Ann also designed and made all beautiful vintage style accessories and Ann’s Mum made the bridesmaids dresses! All in all a very talented family put all their skills together to create a very special day.

Both Agnieszka and I had been commissioned to produce a magical selection of images on Helen and Tom's wedding.
We had planned to shoot part of the wedding photography down on the local beach a stone throw from their chosen wedding venue Langdon Court (well a short VW camper drive)
During our first meeting Tom & Helen had fallen in Love with Stella our VW Split screen camper!
Although the couple really did not need a wedding car for their civil ceremony they immediately knew the VW Wedding camper Van would give a retro twist to the beach photography!

James & Sophie's Wedding At Traveller’s Rest Old Church and Tipis in Filleigh, North Devon

When you think about Global warming initially is sounds quite nice, something the UK could do with! After our wedding last Saturday I would like to propose a new name, I was thinking “Global Meltdown” or “Global biblical storms”, something that would actually make the world realise it’s not going to be a nice day.
Well I can’t confess to understanding much about the modern Environmental Situation but I can say Agnieszka & I have both got plenty of experience in making the most out of bad weather.
Sophie & James had booked the “Traveller’s Rest Old Church “(deconsecrated and decommissioned in the 1970s) with the reception to be held at James’s parents cottage at Filleigh North Devon, in the middle of a huge field with a magnificent structure made up of several very large Tipis.
On the drive up from Plymouth to North Devon we stopped at North Cote Manor
to drop Agnieszka off with Sophie and the Champagne drinking Bridesmaids.
I continued my journey north to arrive twenty minutes later at the Family farm. The Tipis looked amazing. With the boys Suited & Booted they jumped in a VW Split Screen Camper making a bee line to the local pub!
Throughout the day rain came and went, but after the beautiful ceremony upon arrival at the reception the Heavens opened and when I say opened they really let loose.
15 minutes later the Bride & Groom are still stuck in the VW Splitty and we are somehow stuck in a greenhouse!
As the rain eased we were faced with about three inches of water around the tipis.
Wellie boots on the couple made it to the safety of the tipis where we continued to collect many beautiful images right up until the first dance.

James & Suzie's Wedding at Bickleigh Church and Royal William Yard, Plymouth

Someone has to work while Agnieszka shot off for her fantastic sailing holiday around Azores islands.
Although it’s not all bad news I managed to edit a wedding, paint the studio, squeeze in a few portrait sessions, paint the garden fence and find a few hours for xbox ;) as well as photograph James & Suzie’s wedding at Bickleigh Church with the reception at the Royal William Yard! (a venue I had been looking forward to working in for a long time).
To be more precise the reception was held at Urban Brew at Royal William Yard. Some of you will remember we held an exhibition there for a week showing fine art weddings from Younger photography.
It’s an awesome location with so many opportunities for photography. However it was very windy in some areas, fortunately we managed to gain access into the lobby of the residential area. WOW I could have photographed in there all day long but after a ten-minute session it was time for the speeches.
As soon as I got home to an empty house I decided I missed my wife so much I drove to London where she had landed earlier in the day and was planning to say with her Dad and family.
On our return home Agnieszka did not even notice the fresh smell of paint.
What a good husband I am ;)

For the last eight years we have not taken on any assistants, so many of you might be surprised to find out that for the last six months we have been busy training a possible future “Younger photographer”:)
As our photographic techniques are constantly evolving and changing we are finding it so much easier with an extra pair of hands to change lenses and help with lighting. Having said that you just can’t beat having two professional photographers covering your once in a lifetime dream day. Amy & Terry decided to choose both Agnieszka & I to photograph their wedding.
So last Saturday Agnieszka & our assistant started the day at The Bedford Hotel in Tavistock with Amy and her bridesmaids capturing many beautiful and natural images. At the same time as the beautiful bridal preparation photographs where taking place I was in the pub with the boys!
Yes I met Terry and his groom’s men at the local pub.I know what your thinking but it was purely professional, the boys images where coming along nicely and the Guinness was gently flowing.(Experience has proven Guinness is the drink of choice for Black & white photography, and Terry thought this was the best excuse he had ever heard to enjoy a swift pint before his wedding)
All in all it was an awesome day, another glorious summer day for a wedding. After the ceremony Amy & Terry ventured outside for the first time as husband & wife, the streets were paved with hundreds of locals. It was also the one-day a year when Tavistock holds its Colourful Carnival parade. The procession with theme ''Let's celebrate'' wound its way around the streets of the town. As we returned to the hotel after some funky urban photography the crowd started cheering our newly weds.
It was great feeling for Amy & Terry to be in the middle of it all, late arrivals to Tavistock might have thought it was a Royal wedding!

Emma & Steven's Wedding at the Great Barn,Higher Ashton, Exeter

A small selection of beautiful, natural images Agnieszka & I took on a gorgeous summer day for Emma & Steven at the Great Barn, 15th century ''thatched cathedral''.
I get chills when we get the opportunity to shooting a civil wedding at the Great Barn, the owners are also interested in lighting and understand the importance of getting the ambiance just right for every occasion. Almost every spotlight high in the rafters can be controlled from a lighting booth!. It can be a challenge due to the extreme light & shadow areas all around, but it's a challenge Agnieszka and I both enjoy.
I have seen wedding images in Wed magazine and West Country weddings magazine where the photographer has gone to the Great Barn and opted for the easy, safe option and used a flash gun which will kill the ambiance and illuminate the whole room.
As you will know from reading earlier blogs Agnieszka and I are both lighting freaks and direct flash is not in the Younger Photography rule book, unless we are using a ring-flash but thats another workshop altogether ;-)

Jane & Rodger’s Wedding at the Elfordleigh Golf and Country Park

My first job was working as a portrait photographer mainly photographing babies. I used to catch the bus to work, I really enjoyed the trip into Plymouth city centre, for me it was just like the school bus.
It was on the back of the bus in 1989 I first met Jane, (yea I now what your thinking but it wasn’t like that). We were bus buddies, then we started driving lessons with the same instructor, but after passing my test ( 1st time around thank you very much) I never seen Jane again, until she came into our studio with her partner Rodger to book Younger Photography for their wedding.
Twenty years is a long time and I wasn’t sure it was Jane until I seen her name on the booking form. Nice coincidence but they did not stop there. It turned out Rodger & Jane where having their wedding breakfast in the Reynolds Room, Jane’s maiden name! However when Jane & Rodger sat down for the wedding breakfast she would have a new name Jane Austin.
Yep, role on the gags, booking Younger Photography was Jane’s first “Sense and Sensibility” decision :)
The wedding day itself was a gorgeous summer day, it was a struggle to find shade for already roasting guests. I could see Jane’s dad looking at her with “Pride and looking at me with Prejudice” It was at this point I decided to use “Persuasion” to get the young children's attention for the family group shot!

Alex & Laura's Wedding at Kitley House Hotel in Yealmpton

I can imagine it would be a difficult job to organise a wedding in a different county than you live in but Laura & Alex and especially Laura's Mum Annette did it all and it was just perfect! The couple who live in Hampshire set their hearts on Kitley House Country Hotel on the banks of the River Yealm and on the day they were not disspointed.
Laura and her 3 bridesmaids got ready in a bridal suite upstairs. I just love Laura's dress by Maggie Sottero. She looked absolutely stunning in it. After the civil ceremony everybody was enjoying cocktails and the sunshine in the gardens. These are just a few teaser shots from this beautiful, relaxed summer wedding.

Lauren & Oliver's Wedding at St Breock Church Wadebridge in Cornwall

It was a beautiful summer country wedding! Lauren got ready at her Mum's fairy tale cottage just 5 minutes walk to St Breock church. Andrew & I took a full advantage of this gorgeous 13 century church and took some amazing shots of bride & groom inside using window light! The reception was held in a marquee which was set up on a huge field just outside Lauren & Olly's house. All the family & guests were enjoying the sunshine, the views and lots of Pimms cocktails! Last month I have submitted a beautiful image from a fashion shoot for competition held by Association for Professional Wedding and Portrait Photographers. Earlier this year Andrew & I did a shoot for Plymouth's leading hair salon 'Utopia' who wanted to support Surfers Against Sewage. Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is a UK-based non profit-making organisation campaigning for clean, safe recreational waters, free from sewage effluents, toxic chemicals, marine litter and nuclear waste. Younger photography had to get involved too! And yes I won a GOLD award from the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers in the Fashion & Beauty Category ! WOO HOO!
My beautiful model Amy wore a fab dress made from hundreds of copies of the Evening Herald! Gemma from Utopia styled Amy's hair while Kady also from Utopia did her fantastic make up. The shoot took place at Stax the reclamation yard in Saltash, it was just a perfect background.
All Younger photography Gold Awards will be included in an International Competition in January 2011 in London!

So after a beautiful trip to Goa in India Agnieszka & I had fully recharged our batteries and the equipment batteries for Matt & Vanessa’s wedding at Bovey Castle on Saturday the 22nd of May on what was reported as being hotter than Australia or LA!
In the passed we had photographed a few Fashion Shoots at Bovey Castle www.boveycastle.com for various wedding magazines like Devon Weddings and West County Weddings but this was to be our first wedding there, and we could not have asked for a more perfect couple for the perfect venue on could well be the most day with perfect weather!
Matt and Vanessa wanted a relaxed photojournalistic approach with our younger photographic twist.
We not only took full advantage of castle's romantic surrounding flooded in sunshine but also of it's inside decor. We got some amazing shots! Vanessa & Matt you were stars!

Sarah & John's Wedding at St Elizabeth's House Hotel in Plympton

Sarah & John had a beautiful civil ceremony at St Elizabeth's House in Plympton, 20 years to the day they got engaged! And to make up for the long wait Sarah made sure she had absolutely everything on her wedding day. In John’s own words “we even have our own queer eye for the straight guy wedding organisers”! During our pre wedding meeting we asked Sarah & John to describe their wedding. Sarah said it would be very different and went on to say “our bridesmaids are men!!! “(Hence the Queer eye part) and John said “our wedding would be lots of Fun with a subtle serious side.”
John and Sarah were forgoing wedding gifts and asked their wedding guests to make donations to The Ford Park Cemetery Trust and The Royal Marines Benevolent Fund
two charities very dear to them.
Sarah's father, Andrew, a decorated marine who served in both the Falklands conflict and Northern Ireland, raised £4,000 for the charities during an event in Portsmouth to celebrate his 65th birthday in February.
To celebrate the wedding the couple commissioned the Royal Marines Quartet and The Royal Marines Corps of Drums.
In the evening the awesome entertainment courtesy of Joey The Lips was backed up with casino tables from Celebration Balloons that also did the chair covers and 2 chocolate fountains!

As we use Graphi Studio albums in our Younger photography collections, we were talking to thousands of photographers about Graphi’s products.
Andrew also gave four seminars about wedding photography where he shared our knowledge, experience and passion for creating intimate and timeless images on a wedding day. He explained why we at Younger photography believe every wedding couple should have an album and show how to design them in the contemporary way telling the story of couple's special day.
Focus on imaging was a very busy and very enjoyable 4 days for us and the Graphi team. Andrew & I LOVE the fact that what started as a professional relationship has turned into a friendship with all the team!

Elyse & Lee's Winter Wedding at St Edwards Church and New Continental Hotel in Plymouth

It was a crisp winter day, but the light was amazing on Elyse & Lee's wedding day.
The clouds were forming parallel lines in the sky which looks fantastic on the photographs!
After the ceremony and gorgeous photographs at St Edwards Church in Eggbuckland the guests ( all 175 off them!) made their way to the reception while Andrew & I followed the married couple to Royal William Yard for a photo shoot there.
One of the surprises of the day for us was the newly decorated New Continental Hotel in Plymouth, it was looking a bit tired but now the decor is stunning and made for a fantastic backdrop for some amazing images of bride & groom! Elyse & Lee decided to break the tradition and did their first dance just before sitting down for their wedding breakfast, which immediately put everybody in a party mood! Great wedding, lovely couple and beautiful photographs to remember a fantastic day.

My image of Monument Valley in sand storm ( taken during our trip to USA last October) caught the judges eye. I LOVE this photograph and plan a big canvas of it in our living room ;)

Andrew's image of Plymouth's first cage fighting tournament won Gold in the Sport section.

Kelly's & Daniel's Winter Wedding at Fowey Hall Hotel, Cornwall

Andrew & I have just received a lovely letter from Kelly & Dan ( which we posted below) It was our first wedding this year, and what a great start of the year it is! Guys thank you very much!
''When we met Andrew and Agnieszka a year ago to talk about the possibility of them photographing our wedding at Fowey Hall Hotel on 9th January, it was one of the easiest decisions we had to make. We were blown away, not just by their stunning portfolios, but by their enthusiasm for the weddings they work on and the clients they’d worked with. We knew we’d end up with beautiful wedding photographs, but we also knew that we’d have a couple there who we genuinly wanted to share the day with us. We’d got to know them, through discussions in advance and through our engagement shoot, so we knew they’d capture our personalities and what was important to us.
On the day itself, Andrew took much persuasion to join the ‘beys’ at the pub, whilst Agnieszka had a morning with the girlies getting ready. Half of the photos we didn’t even know they’d taken! It was the same throughout the whole day, they were discreet and they have a secret talent of getting everyone where they want them! A bit of banter definitely helped! We had a fantastic trip to the beach (yes, in January!) where the two of us got to spend a bit of time together for the first time as a married couple; Andrew and Agnieszka stood back and took photos of us as we were. It was a really special part of the day.
We got a total mix of types of photographs which really encapsulated every element of our day; from getting ready, to the emotions in the ceremony, to the details, to the group shots, to capturing the embarrassment in the speeches (!), as well as the stunning romantic shots of the two of us together - and nearly catching light to the trees with our sky lanterns (we apologise Andrew that you had to put it out next to a gas supply!)
Our photographs are even more spectacular than we could ever have imagined; as memories fade, we will be left with the most beautiful wedding album to look back on. Andrew and Agnieszka – thank you!

Younger Photography lectures on weddings in London

Andrew & I felt very proud to be chosen as speakers for this year Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers Convention in London.
As the largest photographic convention in Europe, it was a veritable feast of education with days of action packed programmes designed to help the photographers put their imagery ahead of the game. The event was the largest gathering of professional photographers eager to share their knowledge, experiences & friendship.
We were lecturing amongst world - class speakers & photographers.
During the seminars we shared our knowledge, experience and passion for creating intimate and timeless images on a wedding day. We explained where we get our ideas from , inspiration which defines our younger style. We talked about how we manage to make our brides & grooms feel really comfortable in front of the camera and shared some of our own techniques how to capture the natural magic of the wedding day. We even gave some advice how to direct couples ( even those who don't want to be posed) to achieve stunning results everybody is happy with. We explained why we believe every wedding couple should have an album and show how to design them in the contemporary way.
Nowadays when too many things are digitalised & electronic albums are back in fashion. We advised other photographers to encourage their clients to have their wedding images in an album instead of a DVD which will never be as impressive as the real thing. We at Younger photography give our clients something really special; we create modern, glamorous photos with a fashionable twist at every wedding we shoot. Then we, ourselves design a beautiful story book, an album which is our client's first family heirloom.
Our aim was to inspire other photographers with Younger Photography images and our younger approach to wedding photography. It was a little scary to talk in front of large group of people, but in the end we had a great feedback and consider it a great success!

Gemma & Nick's Wedding at Charlestown church & Alverton Manor in Truro

Gemma & Nick had a truly beautiful Christmas wedding.
The day was very cold but instead of snow we had gorgeous winter sun.
The couple live in a historic & picturesque port Charlestown in Cornwall which to this day remains unspoilt and retains much of its Georgian character. Charlestown is a very popular location for film & Television ( Poldark, Hornblower, Mansfiled Park, The Eagle Has Landed and many more)
Coincidently Gemma & Nick were chosen to take part in TV programme Four weddings, so we have a TV crew on the day filming away!
Gemma & Nick's exchanged their vows in their home town church, St Paul's and straight after the ceremony and family group shots we went to the harbour with two magnificent square riggers ships - an unusual and very impressive backdrop for photographs.
It was such a romantic setting. There was nobody around, the sea was calm and the harbour and the beach flooded in the golden sun. Suddenly a gorgeous rainbow came out which only added to the beauty and serenity of the place.
At the reception venue - cosy & beautifully decorated Alverton Manor in Truro - it was lovely to see a Father Christmas running around the house amusing the children & all the guests!

Ross & Sarah's wedding at Whitsand Bay Hotel, Cornwall

Andrew & I both left the studio at the same time heading off in different directions, his wedding was at Langdon court while I was making my way over the Tamar Bridge to the delightful Whitsand Bay Hotel.
It was a venue I had never shot before but in the run up to the wedding I had visited a few time to plan my shots, on each visit I would spot a new opportunity for a stunning image.
What makes the Whitsand Bay Hotel so very special for me as a photographer, is the position of the building where the light is reflected off the sea lighting the rooms and the ceilings inside as if we had used huge studio lights.
As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted with the unmistakable festive smell of mulled wine. The Christmas decorations were tastefully chosen blending in well with Ross & Sarah's wedding theme, warm and inviting.
It was such a comfort looking out through the massive imposing windows with the most impressive sea views stretching off into the stormy horizon. Inside the warm and cosy civil ceremony room friends and family were treated to a beautiful Cornish ceremony with a jaw dropping background unlike anywhere else I have photographed.
After the ceremony I managed to arrange the entire wedding party on and around the grand staircase with the largest Christmas tree you have ever seen under a roof!!
A quick trip outside afforded me the opportunity to collect some magical images of Ross & Sarah.

Mandy & Peter's wedding at St Johns, Hooe & Kitley House Hotel

The tensions were high and nerves getting the better of people but Agnieszka's attempt in searching the house for Christmas presents failed as we needed to prepare for Mandy & Peter's wedding at St John's in Hooe and Kitley House.
The Month of November is not usually remembered for its lovely weather but in some respects that's what we got, yes its was blowing a hoolie and the news reports suggested only to go outside if you really need to... Well we needed to.
We both covered the wedding with Agnieszka starting with the bridal preparations in the warmth of Mandy's mothers house taking in the views over Mount Batten and the Hoe, whilst I was probably showing a little more concern than the priest when at one point the winds seemed to get under the roof making the normally safe environment of a church more like a tent.
The Weather was not going to dampen the wedding other than our plans to shoot on Mount Batten Pier which was closed due to high winds and waves breaking over it. We still managed to shoot what we had planned for.
Once in the grounds of Kitley House it seemed like we had driven through a time machine as the weather was beautiful. Perfect late season sun giving a beautiful warm glow, although we were all pleased to get back into the warmth and cosy surroundings of Kitley House with all its open fires creaking and crackling heating the house whilst sending out the message that Christmas is almost here.

Jennifer & Peter wedding at Duke of Cornwall, Plymouth

We both love photographing in the city, it's always our own personal challenge to find something new and interesting to use as a backdrop. The urban wedding shoot works so well here in Plymouth and with the Duke of Cornwall in the heart of the city it makes for a perfect wedding venue.
When shooting a wedding in town Agnieszka & I love to look for the less likely, less obvious shots and this is what keeps our passion high for our photography, which is not for the traditional style bride. If I would describe Jennifer & Peter's attitude to wedding photography I would start off with Jennifer, fearless bride who knows what she wants, a bride who wanted her wedding to be unique and a reflection of hers & Peters personality (far from traditional). They both wanted to have modern & funky images to remember their very special day by.
The Duke of Cornwall and it's surroundings architecture lends themselves perfectly to abstract shots, with shape and form taking centre stage for artistic photography for which Younger photography is renowned for.
It was the location shoots that raised a few eyebrows from graffiti walls to some run down buildings all of which can be transformed into striking backgrounds with creative lighting a little imagination and careful composition.

On a regular basis we arrange fashion shoots sourcing beautiful models, the best venues,designer dresses, and professional hair & make up.
These magazine shoots allow us to explore new ideas and experiment with unusual lighting.
Jenny Packham dresses supplied by The Wedding company in Plympton were the inspiration for this shoot.Jenny Packham's bridal gowns are at the cutting edge of fashion, and are often described as art deco with a real 1920's & 1930's feel. Bovey Castle, country house hotel on Dartmoor suited perfectly the dresses and our style of indoor photography.
Yvonne & Melanie from salon Utopia did a great job with our models' hair, and Kady (also from Utopia) with soft and elegant make up. Our models looked amazing! We spent many enjoyable hours shooting inside and outside the castle.
After the shoot we knew we had some beautiful images and decided to order a portfolio book to display the images in our studio. To our surprise and happiness Graphi Studio - the world premier Book binders based in Italy contacted us out of over 40,000 customers to ask if they too could use our images as a display book to promote their products along side Yervant’s Albums in a Seminar in London last month.(Yervant is a world class wedding photographer who came over from Australia to talk about wedding photography)

When I was working as a photographer on the ocean liners,(a few years ago now and before I met Agnieszka), every opportunity I got to go ashore it would almost always be with the ship's band members. We would always look for bars with live music, it was not uncommon for the band members to join in or even take the stage for the rest of the night drinking free beers bought by the locals and as their promoter - temporary manager for the night I too would get the occasional complimentary drink. The atmosphere was amazing, I worked on about twenty different ships and the musicians always seemed the coolest bunch.
We met Guy & Rhiannon at the Pavilions wedding show a few years back. They were promoting www.dodgeypractice.com. Based in Devon, Dodgey Practice are the connoisseurs 9 piece soul band. Renowned locally as a band that delivers its classic brand of high-energy funky/soul/disco music with total commitment to entertainment and performance. Guy a trumpet player for the band, booked us to shoot images for the band's website, it wasn't long before we found out they had plans to get married the following year.
The ceremony and reception was held in a marquee in Guy's parents touring park www.galmptontouringpark.co.uk/ what a view over the river dart, if you fancy a quiet spot in Devon look no further!!
The couple had a very intimate civil ceremony in the morning (just with their parents), so when we meet up with them for the shoot they were already husband & wife! Agnieszka went to Rhiannon's parents house for bridal preparation images, I met with the boys in Guy's apartment, a beautiful home full of weddings guests casually getting ready listening to music, dancing around enjoying themselves, cool people.
After the shoot with the boys we met up with Rhiannon and Agnieszka for a photo shoot in Brixham town centre then the beach both perfect backdrops for some amazing shots. Rhiannon wore a gorgeous yellow & green dress handmade by her Mum. People on the streets were stopping and commenting how beautiful she looked! The weather was perfect - an Indian summer day with very dramatic light throughout the day which made for stunning images.
After the shoot the couple arrived separately to Galmpton Touring Camp, Rhiannon arived in a VW Splitscreen camper van to have their dream wedding ceremony outside in front of friends and family enjoying spectacular views over the broadest reaches of the River Dart . Rhiannon brother conducted the ceremony which got quite emotional when the couple started exchanging their very personal vows.
It was a very unusual day for us. A big thank you for Rhiannon & Guy for choosing us for their very special day indeed and entrusting us in capturing their very special moments. Agnieszka and I both enjoyed Guy's and Rhiannon's company and I'm pleased to say musicians are still the coolest people.

Suzie & Ian's Wedding at Wembury Church and Langdon Court Hotel

When describing Suzie’s & Ian’s wedding day “traditional” would be the last word you would use. As you know we at Younger Photography love quirky ideas,all things unusual, including all things Volkswagen...
So when Suzie and Ian began describing their wedding plans which included a VW camper van, cricket, the beach and a ice-cream van it was clear from the start Agnieszka and I would be the obvious choice.
At Wembury church the boys piled out of a VW camper ;-p with cricket bats in hand.
As you have probably guessed by now my part in the morning was to meet up for a casual game of cricket before the wedding. (Ian and his grooms men were all big fans of the cricket) It was a beautiful day for a wedding or a day for cricket, but a groom fully clothed in tails might not be recommended as the clothing of choice, however it made for smashing photography.
The taxi due to take Suzie’s brother from the Church (game)to Langdon Court was also booked to take the mother of the bride to the church........ unfortunately this did not happen as he drove off after Suzie’s brother got out to get his Mum!
After one extra journey the wedding car arrived fashionably late at Wembury Church with our bride.
After the beautiful ceremony the wedding guests were greeted with ice creams from a pre booked ice cream van!
Agnieszka & I took our bride & groom to the Wembury beach for some artistic images with gorgeous views. After an half an hour shoot on the beach we all arrived to Langdon Court for testy BBQ dinner where all guests chilled out in the sunshine enjoyed themselves in the garden.
It was a prefect last weekend of summer.

Bridal show at Kitley House Hotel Yealmpton this Sunday

This Sunday the 4th of October 2009 Younger Photography will be exhibiting at Kitley House wedding show in Yealmpton! The event will be open to the public from 12pm through to 4.30pm. Two fashion shows will take place in the marquee at 1pm and repeated at 3pm. The event is currently being advertised on Heart radio and in The Western Morning News with some editorial this week in the Herald.
The wedding shows are the best opportunity to meet us, to ask any questions, to view our work and the wedding books we design. We will also bring our gorgeous VW Split Van Stella which we use for wedding hire( www.vwlovebus.com) We look forward to seeing you there!

Jacqui & Mike originally were going to get married on 8/8/08 but then realised the significance of the date and changed to the 9/9/09. Jacqui is police officer as is Michael!
Jacqui asked her best friend Kelly to help her plan her wedding and give it some special personalised touches, and give the wedding a quirky touch providing an unusual theme.
When deciding on the theme, Jacqui and Kelly came up with the tea party idea with vintage crockery from The English tea party in Devon, who provided all the cups, saucers, cake stands and bunting! The chair covers were a wedding gift from Kelly's company Southwest Chair Covers, Jacqui wanted something no one had ever had before. Kelly used the satin sashes for an elegant finish in the marquee and used 7 colours to provide the eclectic look! Florist Amanda Randell used a selection on antique coloured roses, berry and hydrangea's. Her style suited Jacqui down to the ground!
In the morning everybody was excited to see the film crew who arrived for an interview with Jacqui & Mike.
Jacqui chose Boringdon Hall in Plympton as she loves anything oldy worldy, and loved the atmosphere given by such an old building.After the ceremony the guest were wowed in the stunning marquee and treated to afternoon tea, with lots of cakes, cream teas and sandwiches!
The couple were keen to book up with Younger photography (we had previously photographed Kelly's Wedding) and Jacqui was blown away by Kelly & Daniel's photos and gorgeous album and really wanted some stunning images to remember her wedding by. Later Jacqui & Mike jumped in to the gorgeous VW Love bus (www.vwlovebus.com) and we all drove to the Moors for the photo shoot.
It was a fantastic day everybody trully enjoyed.

What a fantastic day we had at the Pavilions wedding show yesterday! Younger stand was so busy! We have got lots of enquiries and a few bookings already! We officially launched our VW LOVE bus which was also extremely popular. It was lovely to have Danielle (our 2008 Bride)to help me on the day. Couldn't do without her! Andrew was shooting a weeding at Duke of Cornwall and only helped us to set up Younger stand in the morning. James & Lisa's Wedding at Kitley House Hotel, Yealmpton

As you probably know by now we shoot many of our weddings at Kitley House Hotel in Yealmpton! Each and every booking is a challenge for us to make sure that we come up with new ideas for our brides & grooms who entrusted us with capturing beautiful images. The wedding of James & Lisa was no exception. Lisa & James were really keen on photography and enjoyed having their photos taken outside, using the panoramic views over the estate. After the wedding breakfast and speeches we decided to use some experimental lighting inside the house using the richly appointed furnishings that reflect the traditional elegance of the house. Taking advantage of the splendid feature window above the grand stair case we achieved our personal challenge in creating more stunning and unique images.It was a lovely, relaxed wedding day for everybody. We finished shooting after the 1st dance leaving the bride & groom and all their the guests dancing to the the music of ‘’Fab Beatles’’ band :))

As the wedding fairs season has already started and lots of Brides & Grooms are researching for right wedding suppliers,being one of more expensive photographers in Devon area I thought I would post this article on our blog.

''It’s your wedding. And out of the myriad decisions you will make in planning one of the biggest and most important days of your life, hiring the right photographer may very well be the most important. After all, the wedding cake will be eaten, the flowers will eventually wilt and the wedding reception will be over when it is time for you and your betrothed to head home and prepare for the honeymoon. After all is said and done, it will be the images of your day that will help you to always remember all of the emotion, laughter, tears and sacredness of that day. The scary thing is, what if your wedding photos are, well, less than satisfactory?

Let’s be honest. Weddings are expensive, sometimes even ridiculously expensive. A case for the more expensive wedding photographer

In the case of wedding photography, do you really want to entrust a lifetime of memories to a photographer you found on craigslist.org or on an Internet search for “affordable wedding photographer”? Do these low priced photographers really have what it takes to ensure that your wedding images are truly exceptional? Hopefully, you only get married once. Ilona & Scott's Wedding at St.Mary's Church and Moorland Links Hotel

Ilona & Scott's wedding ceremony took place at St. Mary’s church in Plympton.
The bride look gorgeous in her wedding dress by Maggie Sottero and Andrew & I could have spent all day taking some stunning shots of Ilona & Scott at the church but the Moorland links hotel was calling. The weather was changing fast and Andrew & I had put some time aside in the schedule for some artistic photographs in the heart of Dartmoor. Unfortunately the weather was not getting any better and by the time we arrived to the venue it was pouring down! As you have probably guessed by now rain won't stop us shooting our iconic images, time to improvise with alternative lightening techniques.
Despite the weather Ilona & Scott have beautiful and unusual images to remember their special day. Now I can not wait to start designing their wedding book for them! It will look amazing!

Charlotte & Philip's wedding at Kitley House Hotel

A chilled out wedding teamed with a perfect lazy sunny afternoon….
Much thought had gone into Phillip & Charlotte’s wedding day at Kitley House, complementary bold vibrant colours everywhere you looked. We are very fortunate to be regular photographers at Kitley House and each wedding we shoot there looks unique but I can’t tell you how special Phillip & Charlotte’s day was, even the guests seemed to be colour coordinated, in some cases it seemed a shame to convert any images into B&W!! The wedding was a Civil wedding conducted beautifully by South Hams registrars.
All the family photographs & group shots took place in the gardens. They had a perfect blue sky with fluffy clouds. What better test run debut could Stella the VW split screen camper have. With a spare five minutes Charlotte, Phillip & I jumped in the VW Love bus and raced (at a 1966 pace )up the hill for a few more funky images with the VW Splitty as a backdrop.
When we returned all the guests seemed perfectly happy basking in the sun soaking up the splendid views over the river Yealm.

Autumn wedding fares season is quickly approaching and Andrew & I are already extremely busy meeting with our future clients.
Lots of couples want stunning natural images to record their special day but worry about feeling uncomfortable in front of the camera.
The reason for the E Shoot ( Engagement Shoot ) is not only to enjoy some beautiful images of yourselves before the big day but it’s also a great opportunity to get to know your photographers and to learn what to expect on the wedding day.
When booking us for their 2010 wedding Kelly & Daniel express their concerns about having their photos taken so when Andrew & I suggested an E- shoot on location Kelly & Daniel were right up to it.
Their pre wedding photo shoot was the perfect ice-breaker - and a great deal of fun for all of us!

What has happened to the summer this year?
When planning their Big Day Laura & James had no hopes for sunshine.This wasn't the first time we had photographed James in tops & tails.In 2007 we photographed Mike & Elsbeth's wedding in June but experienced continuous rain. James was best man then, so when it came to their big day Laura & James were well prepared with lots of umbrellas as the weather forecast wasn't good. What a great surprise on their wedding day: hot, sunny with blue skies and fluffy clouds.Andrew & I were ecstatic. We had it all: great light,fantastic locations and a lovely couple who really enjoyed having their photos taken. In the evening we put on a great slide show of some images taken on the day, which bride & groom and all their guests thoroughly enjoyed!

Vw Split Screen Camper van for Plymouth wedding car hire

Well many of you will already know through our face book pages that we have gone into a new business partnership with Daniel & Sam Welch our very good friends. So what's the business I hear you ask? Wedding car hire! but not just any wedding car.
Together we bought a very rare and very original 21 window 1966 vw splitscreen micro bus deluxe (also known as 'Samba")
The bus has been christened Stella, she is in Agnieszka's words "oh it's in Laura Ashley's eau de nil green over cream"
Stella's history can be traced from the factory in Germany in 1966 to Houston USA until some time later a Japanese collector bought her and shipped her to Japan. In June this year Stella came to the UK. These are a few images Agnieszka & I took to help launch the business.

Kristy & Chaz Wedding at St Andrew's Church & St. Elizabeth's House, Plympton

Where do I start with Chaz & Kristy's wedding day, they had planned it all! Unusually I travelled with the groom and all his men to St Andrew's Church in Town, when I say all, I mean all it took a stretched Hummer to accommodate all of them. ( and me)
We even gate crashed a vintage bus show on the Hoe, who was going to stop a Hummer that was longer than most of the buses there? About fifteen grooms men piled out for a photo shoot near Smeaton's tower. Meanwhile Agnieszka was having fun with Kristy and all her bridesmaids. Kristy's bridal preparation started in the beautiful St Elizabeth's House in Plympton which was where the wedding reception was going to take place after the Church.
This was the first time we covered a wedding at St Elizabeth's house. Both Agnieszka & I had loads of ideas for locations & lighting we could use for some great shots.
Kelly from South West Chair Covers supplied the chair covers for the marquee and the colour scheme looked beautiful.

Jo & Clive Wedding at Two Bridges Hotel,Princetown

Jo & Clive wedding ceremony & reception took place at the Two Bridges hotel at the very heart of the Dartmoor National Park. Jo looked absolutely stunning in her gorgeous Ian Stuart's dress and was up to going out for some moody Dartmoor shots despite the rain! Guys thank you for your perseverance, it was worth it! Hope you had a hot & very sunny honeymoon :)
